Dear ISCA members,
During the life of Francis Schaeffer, he knew that the apologetic moment required a robust engagement with the concept of truth. Schaeffer was aware that the definition of truth had become a wax nose during his era. Schaeffer called the evangelical world to not only embrace truth, but true truth. By that phrase, Schaeffer called the evangelical church to do away with false notions of truth and return to one that which corresponds with reality.
Evangelicals once again can look to Schaeffer’s call and see the necessity of affirming true truth. We are bombarded by new definitions of “truth” whose only resemblance to true truth is the spelling of the word “truth.” The most explicit attack upon the nature of truth today has come from the influx of radical subjectivity. This is best seen in the multifaceted movement known as Critical Theory, which is ultimately a subjective view of truth.
The theme of our conference on March 25-26, 2022 will be: Engaging Culture with True Truth. We plan to offer many exciting plenary speakers and breakout session to equip the evangelical church to not only understand truth, but engage our world with true truth.
In order to so, however, we are reaching out to our members and extending a call for papers. We have 20 breakout sessions available. Our Conference Coordinator is Dr. Jason Crowder, who will be collecting and reviewing abstracts. Here are the details.
First, the submission deadline for papers will be December 1st, 2021. You will need to write a one-page abstract that includes your title, thesis, and overall argument. The breakout session papers can be on a variety of apologetic related topics. You can submit your paper abstract to Dr. Jason Crowder’s email: drjasondcrowder@gmail.com
Second, in the recent past we have had some individuals whose papers were accepted, but for a variety of reasons they did not show up to the conference or backed out at the last minute. We ask that you please submit an abstract only if you are willing to commit to attending the conference. We understand that true emergencies occur. However, out of respect for everyone and due to the limited number of available spots, we ask that you please submit a paper only if you’re planning to travel to the conference.
Third, as we all know, COVID greatly affected several conferences and events. If you had a paper accepted during the past two years and were not able to present, we ask that you please resubmit your paper for this conference. Past acceptance is not a guarantee to be reaccepted at the 2022 conference. But we will take into account the situation and give consideration to papers accepted at previous conferences.
Fourth, I am thankful to Southern Evangelical Seminary for hosting our 2022 conference. SES is one of the leading institutions in the field of apologetics and philosophy. SES will host this conference on their new campus located outside of Charlotte, NC. If you or anyone you know is interested in seminary or theological education with a special emphasis upon apologetics, please bring him or her to the conference for a tour of the campus and to meet with students and faculty. SES offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees, and they would love to meet with anyone interested in the institution.
Finally, many of you are aware that the co-founder of the International Society of Christian Apologetics, Dr. Norman Geisler, passed away since our last meeting. I would encourage each of you to please try and attend this conference as we seek to honor the life and legacy of Norman Geisler and the influence he had upon our society and the apologetics world at large.
Thank you,

Dear ISCA,
I am writing to inform you that we have set the date for our next meeting of the International Society of Christian Apologetics.
We are pleased to announce our next meeting at Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte, NC. The dates for the conference are March 25-26th, 2022.
For the past several years we have been trying to host a conference on the topic of Social Justice and the Church, but we’ve been prevented from doing so because of COVID restrictions and other factors.
I am excited to announce Michael O’Fallon has agreed to be our plenary speaker and address the topic of Social Justice in the Evangelical Church.
O’Fallon has positioned himself as one of the leading thinkers in this area. Many people became aware of O’Fallon’s work because of his three-part interview with James Lindsay and Peter Boghossian titled, The Trojan Horse. I would encourage each of you to follow the hyperlink and listen to the three-part series.
We will be releasing more information in the near future about calls for papers, hotels, and much more. For now, please mark your calendars and we look forward to seeing each of you at Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte on March 25-26th, 2022.
Thank you,

Press Release from NGIM
Today, Norm Geisler International Ministries (NGIM) announces the global premiere of its documentary on the life story of the late Dr. Norman L Geisler. Norm Geisler: Not Qualified features over 50 of the many Christian leaders who were taught, mentored, or influenced by the man who rose from poverty and illiteracy to change the direction of evangelical Christianity.
The non-profit’s goal is to show the movie at a mega-church in each of the 50 states, and then translate it for international screenings. Churches are partnering with NGIM to bring the movie about this influencer behind the influencers to their city. A conference and workbook are also offered, which follow Norm’s story to dive deeper into the concepts touched on in the movie.
“God may have a greater purpose for this movie than we realize,” says David Geisler, NGIM co-founder, who narrates the film. “The depth of what my father taught and modeled is vital for the challenges the church is facing today.”
Attendance at the global premiere on June 13th, 2021 is by invitation only. It will be held at Calvary Church in Charlotte, NC, where Norm Geisler is buried. A red carpet will begin at 6 pm, and a Q&A will follow the screening. The Q&A panel will feature local interviewees from the film, including Norm’s son David Geisler, Frank Turek, Derwin Gray, Bill Roach, Stephen Cutchins, Christina Lee, and Richard G Howe.
Interviewees include prominent evangelical leaders, authors and speakers including Josh McDowell, Tony Evans, J Warner Wallace, Andy Stanley, Ron Rhodes, John Ankerberg, Kerby Anderson, JP Moreland, Hugh Ross, Ed Hindson, Raul Ries, and Greg Koukl. “I don’t think I could have become a Christian unless I saw that there were people like Norm,” says Wallace. McDowell agrees, “He paved the way.”
“This movie is being released at a pivotal moment in our time, where the evangelical church is looking for leadership of a certain kind,” says David Geisler. “It will change history if we, as Christians, take seriously what my father left us, and also what he warned us.” Norm’s story shares how God can work through us to change history, even when we feel “not qualified.”

Dear ISCA Members,
I hope and pray that you are well. Over the past few weeks members from ISCA and EMNR have been trying to sort through the ever changing and evolving COVID restrictions. In particular, many of the restrictions currently being laid down by the city of Chicago.
Unfortunately, due to increased measures and unforeseeable changes in the near future, we have decided to cancel our 2021 ISCA conference. We are going to work to reschedule the conference in 2022.
I want to be transparent with you concerning this decision. The primary reason for this decision is because of the increased COVID restrictions from Chicago, specifically requiring people to quarantine for 10 days upon entering the city (or go through a series of negative COVID tests). Moreover, many people from different regions of the country would have to quarantine (or their spouses who work in the medical field would have to quarantine) upon returning home. This included the majority of the ISCA board.
Moreover, it is the responsibility of the board to protect the financial future of the organization. After reaching out to the presenters from both organizations, we realized the attendance at the 2021 conference would be well below the threshold to organize the event, pay our speakers, and break even with our expenses. In other words, it would be fiscally irresponsible to host a conference and lose money.
We are going to make some accommodations:
1. We plan to offer a full refund for the event. Each person registered through Eventbrite and if you login and ask for a refund and list COVID as the reasoning you are cancelling you will be given a full refund.
2. Don Veinot oversees EMNR and is also the president of the Midwest Christian Outreach. Don and his organization are located locally in Chicago and have offered to host an event. If you have already registered for the ISCA and event and were scheduled to present, you can participate in the Midwest Christian Outreach conference. It will be hosted at the same date and locations as the original ISCA and EMNR conference. If you are interested, please email Don Veinot.
3. The ISCA board plans to meet digitally and make accommodations for the 2022 conference.
Last year the ISCA board never imagined we would still be affected by COVID or the many restrictions upon large group gatherings. We ask that you please pray for us as we navigate these decisions moving forward.
Blessings,
Bill Roach

Dear ISCA Members,
Due to the 5 phase reentry mandated by the Governor of Illinois, we are forced to cancel our 2020 ISCA/EMR Conference. We plan to hold the exact same conference sometime in 2021. We hope by then all of the group meeting restrictions will be lifted and we will be allowed to gather again.
For those of you who are not aware, IL and Chicago have some of the most restrictive regulations to reopen in the country. These regulations directly affect churches, large groups, and restaurants. Therefore, given the ever changing regulations both ISCA and EMNR believe postponing until 2021 is the best option.
Here are a few basic details:
First, there is no need to change anything with your registration. We can use your exact same registration and payment for the 2021 conference. This option is the easiest for everyone and it helps to keep our administration tasks to a minimum.
Second, if you had a paper accepted for the conference you do not have to change anything. We will automatically accept your paper for the 2021 conference.
Third, we plan to have the exact same plenary speakers.
Fourth, if for some reason you do need a refund for the conference, then you can request it through the registration site and it will be issued to you. We understand if funds might be tight for different people. However, you do not have to refund. Your registration will automatically shift to the new conference date.
Fifth, keep an eye out for the new dates. We are looking at a few dates in April. We plan to release that information soon.
Blessings,
Bill Roach

Greetings,
I hope each of you are doing well. I am writing to remind you of the change of date for the 2020 ISCA conference. We plan to hold the same conference at the same location on July 17-18th. We hope and pray our economy and country will be fully open by late July to host this event. For more information, please visit our website:

Dear ISCA Members,
I am writing to notify you that we are going to postpone our 2020 ISCA conference. Given the current health and travel conditions we believe this is the best decision for all parties involved. In addition, the state of Illinois just closed all restaurants for the foreseeable future. Therefore, given the situation we are going to postpone and reschedule.
For the time being we are trying to work with our host site, speakers, and hotel to have the same event held sometime in either June or July. We are currently working with all of the ISCA leaders, EMNR, and the businesses to sort out the details. We will be emailing you in the near future with updated information.
For the time being, however, here are some key details:
1. If you have registered for the event we will honor those registrations for the new conference. So, there is no need to ask for a refund.
2. You will not have to resubmit your proposals if they were already accepted. We are going to hold the exact same conference at a later date.
3. You will have to cancel and reschedule your hotel room. If you booked your hotel at the Courtyard, here is the phone number: tel:+1 847-394-9999. Call them and ask to cancel. You can reschedule when we release the new dates.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience. We are working to reschedule the event and we will release those new details soon.
