Contributions to the next newsletter

Dear ISCA Member,

I am putting together the next edition of our ISCA newsletter. It will again have FAQ details about the ISCA conference coming this March. In addition to conference information, I would love to have from our ISCA members any of the following information (similar to our last newsletter) to include it in this next newsletter. Just send it to richard@richardghowe.com:

  • Any information about your upcoming speaking engagements
  • Any information about your recent or upcoming publications (books, papers, blogs, etc.)
  • Entries for the “What’s On Your Nightstand?” sidebar letting your fellow apologists know what you’re currently reading or have recently read. I’d like to include one or two items from a number of our members. It’s a good way for us to discover new resources.
  • For additional events that fall outside the first bullet point, if you know of any apologetic events (conferences, special speakers, debates, interviews) either live or on the internet, I’d like to let our members know in case they’d like to be enriched with the ministry of others.

Blessings,
Richard

Next ISCA conference location and summer newsletter

Dear ISCA Member,

With the gracious efforts of members ISCA Past President Kerby Anderson and ISCA Vice President Dr. William C. Roach, we have secured a venue for our next annual conference. On March 24-25, 2017, ISCA will be meeting at The Hope Center, in Plano, TX (Dallas area). With the tremendous experience we had the last time ISCA was at The Hope Center, it is a privilege to return. Be sure to block out the date and plan now for your attendance.

I am putting together the summer edition of our ISCA newsletter. It will outline FAQ details about the conference, including information about paper submissions. In addition to conference information, I would love to have any of the following information from you so I can include it in this first newsletter:

·       Any information about your upcoming speaking engagements

·       Any information about your recent or upcoming publications (books, papers, blogs, etc.)

·       There will be a “What’s On Your Nightstand?” (or some such title) sidebar letting your fellow apologists know what you’re currently reading. I’d like to include one or two items from a number of our members. It’s a good way for us to discover new resources.

·       For additional events that fall outside the first bullet point, if you know of any apologetic events (conferences, special speakers, debates, interviews) either live or on the internet, I’d like to let our members know in case they’d like to be enriched with the ministry of others.

As you might have guessed, time is of the essence as I don’t want to delay the newsletter too much longer. Thanks!

Do you know someone who is not yet a member of ISCA? Send them here for information on how to join.

As your President, let me say that officers of ISCA value your input as to how we can make ISCA better. You can direct all inquiries you specifically have for me to richard@richardghowe.com.

Blessings,

Richard

February 15 deadline

Dear friends,

Please note that a very important date is almost upon us.  It has two points of significance:

First, Monday, February 15 is the deadline for paper proposals to present at the upcoming ISCA annual meeting at Toccoa Falls College in NE Georgia, April 1-2.  Send title and abstract to Donald Williams at dtw@tfc.edu.  You must be a current member of ISCA to present.

Second, Monday, February 15 is also the deadline for submissions to the next issue of Apologia, our quarterly ISCA newsletter (not to be confused with the Journal).  Send news of publications recent or forthcoming, papers presented, debates or other apologetic events you have participated in or are planning so we can pray for them, etc., to Donald Williams at dtw@tfc.edu.

I hope to hear from many of your this week and see many of you at the conference in Toccoa.

Yours for His glory,

Don

2016 ISCA conference update

Housing for the 2016 ISCA conference at Toccoa Falls College, Fri.-Sat., April 1-2, will be at Country Hearth Inn  & Suite, 1.5 miles from campus.  Rates are $59.00/night for a room with two double beds, or a room with a single twin bed, $69.00/night for a room with one king bed, and $70.00/night for a suite with a hot tub.  Rates are per room, whether single or double occupancy.  Call 706-297-7799 and ask for Karen or the manager to make your reservations.  Mention that you are with the conference at Toccoa Falls College to get these rates.  We have a block of rooms reserved at these rates until March 1, so make sure you make your reservations by then.

The theme is “Apologetics in a Hostile Age,” and our plenary speaker is Warren Cole Smith, former editor of World Magazine and currently vice president of the Colson Center and a speaker for Summit Ministries.  Smith is an expert in communication and a fine apologist in his own right.  He will help us be effective in reaching an increasingly hostile world.

Send your own paper proposals to Don Williams at dtw@tfc.edu by Feb. 15

November 30 deadline for our quarterly newsletter

Dear friends,

It’s time to let your fellow apologists know what you’ve been up to!  The deadline for submissions to the next edition of our quarterly newsletter, Apologia, is Monday, November 30, 2015

Note that this is different from our scholarly journal—articles for that should be sent to the journal editor, Bill Roach (roawil@gmail.com).

For the newsletter, please send notices of publications new or forthcoming, apologetic events you have participated in (or are anticipating, so we can pray for you), short reviews of books or articles you have read recently that might be of interest to your fellow apologists, etc.

Send material for the newsletter to me at dtw@tfc.edu, preferably in Times New Roman, 11 point font, by Monday, November 30.

Thanks!

Yours for His glory,

Don

ISCA Spring Conference

Important news. We announced last spring that our 2016 conference would be held at Veritas Evangelical Seminary in Los Angeles, CA.  Veritas has had to withdraw their invitation.  Therefore, the 2016 conference will be at Toccoa Falls College in Northeast Georgia, April 1-3, 2016.  The theme is “Apologetics in an Increasingly Hostile World.”  Mark your calendars and stay tuned for further details as they become available!
